How did you come upon the idea of an independent Rheinland?

It was planned to be an international zone but I thought it would later become either independent or part of Hesse or Hannover

How very strange O_o Never heard of it (the Rhineland international zone) myself. I mean, I know it was demilitarized before WWII but this . . .

I feel like Saxony and Prussia might be the DDR while Bavaria, Hesse and Hannover might be the BRD.
Saarland and the Rheinland would get returned. I like the surviving Prussia.

Even though I am not the map maker, take this:

This is Roosevelts plan. There is no DDR or BRD. The Soviet get everything east of this Prussia, thats it, and the five states here are independent.

And yes, Saarland and Rhineland probably would get returned even though France and Belgium could take their slices like in OTL.

Hmm interesting, I like that plan because Prussia is not wiped off the map.

This Germany would have been WAY better then the way. Germany was split at the end of the war. I blame Stalin.

He actually wanted a Neutral Unified Germany. He also didn't care much for the dissolution of Prussia.

It would have been better like this. Then Germany would be much cultural. That is how the TRUE 1989 German Re-Unification should have been. Who knows? Maybe Pommern, Schlesien (or at least Niederschlesien) and Ostbrandenburg will be returned to Germany, their RIGHTFUL country, one day.

These regions were built by Germans and populated by Germans. Germanic tribes lived there originally and were German lands until 1948 (though they had been lost before briefly but later re-taken by the Holy Roman Empire).

I honestly love this map. The only thing I can think is that Stalin would've pushed for Silesia to be in his Polish puppet state

In Morgenthau Plan, similar pre WW2 plan of how to divide Germany, Silesia was meant to be given to Poland

I'd actually approve of this.
Germany is very culturally heterogenic, but if you'd split it that way, the cultures in the individual states would be more unified.
Now the question is if that is a good or bad thing.

HEY!  You have to give Poland half of 'Prussia' to compensate them for the loss of the eastern territories!

Or maybe Poland could just have East Prussia? That was a pretty big territory.

Too bad he didn't support Czechoslovakian claim for Silesia. It's still land of Bohemian Crown, despite Germany and especially Poland :P

"Hey! We want Silesia!"

"Why?"

"It's land of Bohemian crown!"

Republican Czechoslovakia and others having a converstation.

But yes, they gave it to Poland, why not Czechoslovakia?

Fact is, that in last 1000 years, it was by longest time controlled from Prague (or Vienna, when Austrian Emperors were also Bohemian Kings). Until Prussians stole it in 18th century.

And if not Silesia, then at least Lusatia. Slavs there wanted it after WW2, but nobody didn't care.

Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark also wanted their pound of flesh from Germany :P But from some reason, we all showed Germany mercy from greater balkanization and partition...OMG.

Nazi party was first in free elections, so I think they did. (Of course, I don't blame present time Germans, that would be retarded. But great majority of their ancestors agreed with Hitler at all.)

Simply, why he was so succesful at first place? Because he simply told Germans everything what they wanted to listen. And to do.

Of course they did. They sure felt pretty bad after the WWI. Hitler promised them better Germany, stable economy and so on.

Yeah, France literally signed future Fall of Paris by Treaty of Versailles.

I would prefer Kaiserreich alternative timeline - with communist France and Britain, and fascist/antisemitic United States - Jews immigrating to tolerant Mitteleuropa :P And then, in Second Weltkrieg, German Empire will save the world  or die trying :)
