Hmmm - your western Europe is a bit inconsistent: Your Belgium includes northern France - if so, Luxembourg should be completely annexed by Germany, and Vichy France should exist (Vichy France was technically speaking a sovereign nation, and not at war with anybody, untill they were occupied once more by Germany in 1942 iirc). Otherwise, nicely done. I came across your map while doing research for maps of my own. I just finished a year-by-year map of territorial changes from 1939-1950 (a pain in the ass endevour :D)

Hmm, didn't Tende and some other alpine areas near Nice (not Nice itself, tho) belong to Italy at that time [link] , as it can't really be seen here... :o
But you make nice maps! :) Do you think you could make one for 1943:?

At least I haven't heard anything about that... I'm not so good at regional geography of Southern Europe... ^^;

And thanks! :)

Let's see when I got time.

In 1940, Transjordan, and the British Mandate of Palestine, were socially disconected and refered to as seperate entities, although Transjordan only broke out of the Mandate in 1946. So you could have put a light gray line between.

Hungary looks a little wrong imo. What about Eupen-Malmedy? Its suppose to be part of Germany.

Hungary probably looks different to you because it did not get the regions it annexed in Yugoslavia, such as Bachna, until 1941, when the Axis invaded Yugoslavia.

do the thinner line represent nation-states among the larger body?

Example Bohemia-Moravia (Czech) and General Government (Poland) were part of Germany.

Yep. That's why Germany lost their land to Poland.
