:iconcelestialhost: asked me to make coat of arms of German Emperor Wilhelm II who became also King of England as William V. I came up with these two ideas.

this is awesome! the on on the right could be the new state's coa while the one on the left could be the emperor's personal coa. ;3

but i still need to learn more about heraldry... :(

It is a pleasure. Would you mind to tell me what kind of softwere you use to create coat of arms? I am interested in heraldry too.

I'd say the right one is more authentic

I think so too. Wilhelm would propably adopt something like that.

The left one feels more like German elements have been inserted into an essentially English coat of arms, while the right-hand one looks too overwhelmingly Teutonic.

The Great Saxon Kingdom! I actually came up with a storyline where Wilhelm inherits England after the death of his grandmother just yesterday

It would have been interesting if Britain and Germany wwas ruled by the same person though.

Well Hanover and England had the same monarch until Victoria.

The usual way, I suppose? Grand, pompous, generally Teutonic.

The crown and the armorial lion and unicorn would fit better on the left coat.

But there would be (at least) three crowns, Germany, Prussia and England.

Would those actually be combined on one coat of arms though? I imagine this would be Wilhem's coat of arms as King William V, but he would retain separate coats for Germany and Prussia. I don't know whether the family coat of arms for the House of Hohenzollern would be modified to reflect the posession of the English crown.

I'm not an expert at heraldry though.

Maybe they would have just had an argument about heraldry instead of fighting the First World War.

arguing about heraldry is better than going to war imo lolz ;3
